a very popular British television series shown during the 1980s and early 1990s, set in and around Oxford. The main character is a police detective, Inspector Morse, who with his assistant, Sergeant Lewis, solves complicated murder cases. The series was originally based on the 13 novels about Inspector Morse by Colin Dexter.
