JEKYLL AND HYDE


Meaning of JEKYLL AND HYDE in English

a single person with two personalities, one good (Jekyll) and one bad (Hyde). The phrase comes from a character in Robert Louis Stevenson’s story The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886) who can change into an evil person by drinking a special substance:

She lead an almost Jekyll and Hyde existence.

She soon discovered he was a Jekyll and Hyde.
