I . Cleo Laine
(1927– )
a British singer and actor who has appeared on stage, television and in films. She is married to the jazz musician John Dankworth and began her career performing with him, later achieving success with songs such as You’ll Answer to Me (1961). She was made a dame (2) in 1997.
II . Frankie Laine
(1913–)
a US singer, songwriter and actor with a strong voice who was especially popular in the 1950s, when 13 of his records each sold more than a million copies. They included Jezebel (1951), Rawhide (1952), High Noon (1952) and I Believe (1953).
