MARX BROTHERS

Meaning of MARX BROTHERS in English

a US comedy team of three brothers who made films full of crazy visual humour and quick, clever jokes. They were ‘Groucho’ (Julius) Marx (1890–1977), ‘Chico’ (Leonard) Marx (1886–1961) and ‘Harpo’ (Adolph) Marx (1888–1964). Their films included Duck Soup (1933) and A Day at the Races (1937). Groucho wore glasses and a large false moustache, walked in a funny way and smoked cigars. Chico played the piano, wore a pointed hat and spoke like an Italian-American. Harpo never spoke, played the harp and chased girls. Groucho later had his own comedy television quiz show, You Bet Your Life (1950–61).
