I . Mount McKinley
the highest mountain in North America, with a height of 20 320 feet/6 198 metres. It is in Denali National Park in southern central Alaska , and is also called Denali in the Aleut language. The mountain was named after US President William McKinley , and it was first climbed in 1913.
II . William McKinley
(1843–1901)
the 25th US President (1897–1901). He was a US officer during the Civil War and a Republican (1) who served twice in the US House of Representatives (1877–83 and 1885–91) and as governor of Ohio (1892–6). US power increased greatly during his time as President. He supported the Spanish-American War and trade with China, and created the highest tariffs (= taxes on imports) in US history. He was murdered by an anarchist (= a person who believes there should be no laws or government).
