MILKMAN

Meaning of MILKMAN in English

n ( pl milkmen )

a man who goes from house to house every day delivering milk. There are no longer any milkmen in the US and demand for them in Britain has fallen because most people now buy their milk from supermarkets. In Britain, milkmen do their deliveries early in the morning. In towns and cities they travel in vehicles that use electrical power, called milk floats . The milk is usually delivered in glass bottles and left outside the front door of the customer’s house. Milkmen are generally thought of as cheerful, friendly people.
