a US comedian, actor, film director and producer who first became known when he appeared regularly on Saturday Night Live (1977–80). The well-known films in which he has appeared include Ghostbusters (1989), Groundhog Day (1993) and Lost in Translation (2003).

a Scottish lexicographer (= writer of dictionaries) who is mainly remembered as the first editor of The New Oxford English Dictionary (later called The Oxford English Dictionary ), published between 1884 and 1933.
