I . Beau Nash

(1674–1762)

the name by which Richard Nash is usually known. He was a Welshman who became a leading figure in fashionable English society in the 18th century. He helped to make the English towns of Bath and Tunbridge Wells into fashionable holiday centres.

II . John Nash

(1752–1835)

an English architect. He planned Regent’s Park in London, and the area around it, between 1811 and 1825 for the Prince Regent , who later became King George IV . He also designed Trafalgar Square , St James’s Park and the Marble Arch in London, and the Brighton Pavilion on the south coast of England.

III . Ogden Nash

(1902–71)

a US writer of humorous verse. Many of his poems were first published in The New Yorker magazine. He was known especially for his clever rhymes. His 20 collections of verse include You Can’t Get There from Here (1957) and Bed Riddence (1970).

IV . Paul Nash

(1899–1946)

an English painter who did many types of work, including theatre and book design, but who is remembered especially for the pictures he painted as an official war artist in both world wars.
