a US tennis player, born in Czechoslovakia. She was one of the most successful women players in the history of the game, winning Wimbledon nine times (1978–9, 1982–7 and 1990), more than any other player, and the US Open (2) four times (1983–4 and 1986–7), as well as many other competitions.
