a member of the Northern Irish Orange Society (also known as the Orange Order ), a political society that aims to preserve Protestant power in Northern Ireland. The Orangemen march through the streets every year on 12 July to celebrate the victory of the Protestant king William III of Britain, also known as William of Orange, over the Roman Catholic James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
