a US music producer who has had a big influence on hip hop music. He started by making his own records, many of which used samples (= pieces of music recorded by someone else), including I’ll be missing you (1998) which won a Grammy for best rap performance. He started the record company Bad Boy Entertainment in 1993 which has produced records by artists including Notorious B.I.G, Lil’ Kim and Boyz II Men. His other business interests include a range of fashion clothing called Sean John and a chain of restaurants called Justin’s . He is also known for being arrested on various criminal charges connected with disagreements with other musicians.
