an English actor and writer. He first became famous in the 1970s as one of the team of comedy actors and writers of Monty Python’s Flying Circus . He has acted in a wide variety of films and television programmes, and in the 1990s he began presenting programmes for the BBC in which he travels around the world and gives his own views of the places he visits. He has also written several books including a novel, Hemingway’s Chair (1995).
