a US actor who also directs and produces films. His acting roles include parts in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), The Sting (1973), All the President’s Men (1976), Out of Africa (1986), Indecent Proposal (1993) and The Horse Whisperer (1998). He won an Oscar as Best Director for Ordinary People (1980) and an honorary Oscar, as a Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2002. Redford established the Sundance Film Festival in 1978 at his Sundance Institute in Park City, Utah . He also leads campaigns for a cleaner environment.
