a very large US cactus (= plant with thick, usually prickly stems that grows in hot, dry regions). Saguaros are found mainly in the US states of Arizona and California and in northern Mexico. They can grow to 50 feet/15 metres tall and live for more than 200 years. The Saguaro National Park is in Arizona, and the white flower of the saguaro is Arizona’s state flower.
