a social organization for women students at many US colleges and universities. Members often live together in a sorority house . They are called ‘Greeks’, because each sorority’s name consists of two or three Greek letters, such as Chi Omega or Kappa Kappa Gamma. They also help charities and do community work. A few student sororities are academic or professional organizations.
