I . George Stephenson

(1781–1848)

an English engineer. He designed some of the first steam trains and railways in Britain, including the engines for the first passenger trains for the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1825, and the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1826.

II . Robert Stephenson

(1803–59)

an English engineer, the son of George Stephenson . He helped his father on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway , for which he designed and built Rocket , before becoming the engineer on the London and Birmingham Railway. He also designed many important bridges and was a Conservative Member of Parliament for the last 12 years of his life.
