a well-known US televangelist who lost many supporters in 1988 when it became known that he had visited prostitutes. Swaggert appeared on television asking to be forgiven, and he still broadcasts from his church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana . He is the cousin of the singer Jerry Lee Lewis .
