a US artist who was a leading figure in the pop art movement in the 1960s. He painted such familiar objects as Campbell’s Soup cans and dollar bills. Another famous picture consisted of several similar images of Marilyn Monroe . Warhol made a number of long films in which very little happened, including Chelsea Girls (1966). His most famous statement was: ‘In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.’
