I . John Webster
( c. 1578– c. 1632)
an English writer of plays. The best-known of these are The White Devil ( c. 1608) and The Duchess of Malfi ( c. 1614), which are full of violence and strong emotions. Little is known about his life, but he is now considered to be one of the greatest Jacobean writers.
II . Noah Webster
(1758–1843)
a US teacher and author, best known for his American Dictionary of the English Language (1828). He also helped to establish a standard American spelling of English with The Elementary Spelling Book (1783). His name is now used on many dictionaries published by different US companies.
