I . Billy Wilder
(1906–2002)
a US writer, director and producer of films, born in Austria. His many successful films, some of which he also wrote or helped to write, include Double Indemnity (1944), The Lost Weekend (1945), Sunset Boulevard , The Seven Year Itch (1955), Some Like It Hot (1959) and The Apartment (1960). He won a total of six Oscars .
II . Thornton Wilder
(1897–1975)
a US writer of novels and plays. He won Pulitzer Prizes for the novel The Bridge of San Luis Rey (1927) and the plays Our Town and The Skin of Our Teeth (1942). His comedy play The Matchmaker (1954) was used as the basis for the Broadway musical play Hello, Dolly! (1964).
