( Darryl Francis Zanuck 1902–79)
a US film producer. After working for Warner Brothers he formed his own company, which became 20th Century Fox . Darryl Zanuck’s successful films included The Grapes of Wrath , The Longest Day (1962), How Green Was My Valley (1941), The Sound of Music and Patton (1970). He won a special Oscar in 1937.
