a US theatre manager who produced Broadway shows. He is remembered especially for the Ziegfeld Follies , variety shows which he put on each year from 1907 until his death. They included the beautiful ‘Ziegfeld Girls’ who danced in a long line. Ziegfeld helped the early careers of many performers, including Fred Astaire , Will Rogers and W C Fields . He also produced Show Boat .
