[Greek] Plato called Ananke the mother of the Moirae or Fates and is the personfication of (unalterable) necessity or the force of destiny. Also mother of Adrasteia (daughter of Jupiter and distributor of rewards and punishments). Goddess of unalterable necessity. She was little worshipped until the advent of the Orphic mystery cult.
