ARGO

[Greek heroic] The Argo was the ship, built by Argos with the help of Athena, in which Jason and the Argonauts sailed in quest of the Golden Fleece. It was the largest ship ever built, and its crew included Heracles, Orpheus, and a host of other heroes from all over Greece. Athena fitted the bow of the ship with a speaking timber, cut from the sacred oaks of Dodona.
