ARMAZD

Meaning of ARMAZD in English

[Other] Chief deity in the pantheon of the ancient Armenians; worshipped as the creator of the universe and the god of wisdom. Aramazd's identity was derived directly from Ahura Mazda, the principal deity in the Zoroastrian faith of the old Persians. He is also identical to the Georgian god Armaz. Likewise, Aramazd's son Mihr is the Armenian counterpart to Zoroastrianism's Mithra (as is Georgia's Mirsa, the god of light and fire).
