BUSIRIS

[Greek heroic] A mythical king of Egypt who, in order to avert a famine, used to sacrifice to the gods all strangers who set foot on his shores. Heracles was seized by him and would have fallen victim, but with his immense strength broke his chains and slew Busiris.
