[Greek] In Greek mythology, an ocean nymph who was in love with Apollo. When Apollo fell in love for Leucothoe, the jealous Clytia betrayed her to her father. In anger, he buried Leucothoe alive. The sad Apollo turned away from Clytia and she languished and finally died. After her death she changed into the heliotrope or sunflower, which, traditionally, still turns to the sun, following him through his daily course.
