[Greek] The son of Hermes and a Sicilian nymph. He was known as a shepherd and flute player. He is regarded as the inventor of bucolic/pastoral poetry. The naiad Nomia fell in love with him, but he repaid her love with unfaithfulness upon which she blinded him.
