ELOI, ST.

Meaning of ELOI, ST. in English

[Celtic] There is a widespread legend of St. Eloi that when he was working at his forge, a stranger, seeming a blacksmith, entered. Eloi suddenly grew weary and when this stranger offered to shoe a horse, the saint gladly accepted. The substitute smith cut off the legs of the horse one after another, affixed a horseshoe to each, and replaced the legs. During this process, the animal stood quietly. St. Eloi was astonished at this miracle and questioned the stranger. He then learned that the stranger was in fact Christ himself.
