ERYX


Meaning of ERYX in English

[Greek heroic] The son of Aphrodite and Butes, king of the Elymi on Sicily. He was a renowned boxer and challenged even Heracles to a fight, which led to his death (Virgil V, 392, 412). According to a different tradition he was turned to stone by Perseus holding the separated head of Medusa.
