When Odysseus returned home after his adventures, he was given a warm welcome by Eumaeus, although he did not recognized his lord. Odysseus later made himself known, and Eumaeus helped him to gain access to Penelope. Also in his revenge against Penelope's suitors, Odysseus was assisted by Eumaeus.
