[Other] "Oil press". Getshemane was a small olive grove situated on the Mount of Olives, just outside of Jerusalem. On the eve of his crucifixion, Jesus Christ withdrew here from his disciples in agony over his betrayal by Judas Iscariot. From the 4th century it was identified by a sanctuary, but it was destroyed in later times. Rebuilt in the 12th century, it was again destroyed until the Franciscans acquired it in 1681 and established a flower garden there in 1848. The name comes from Aramaic, meaning "oil press".
