[Polynesian] The Hawaiian (Polynesian) fertility goddess and goddess of childbirth. She gave birth to various strange and noisy creatures. Haumea is a powerful sorceress, and made herself reborn as a young woman to marry her own children and grandchildren. With her magical plants and stick she attracts fish. The trickster Kaulu finally broke her power and killed her. She is the mother of Pele.
