[Folklore] The Iara is a kind of mermaid. She is the beautiful queen of the water, who sings and lures men -- who go mad because of Iara's beauty -- to the waters where they die. Iara has beautiful long hair and uses a golden comb. When an Iara dies, her river dies with her.
