[Greek heroic] A king of Arcadia, who in his vanity and pride tested Zeus by serving him his own son as a dish. The angered Zeus changed Lycaon into a wolf (lukos, wolf). Ovid I, 163. The son of Priam and Laothoe. He was captured by Achilles and sold into slavery. He was later killed during his escape to freedom (Iliad XXI, 35).
