MAJU

[Basque] The Basque divine spirit of thunder whose encounters with his consort Mari cause terrible thunderstorms or hailstorms. Unlike his wife, Maju is not usually helpful, and thus he is often associated to, or merged with, Ostots or Sugaar and Sugoi, the Snakes, two negative beings. Maju punishes children that have disobeyed their parents, or have been cursed by them.
