[Greek heroic] The son of Oileus, stepbrother of Ajax. During the Trojan War he was the leader of the men of Philoctetes, after Philoctetes was left behind on Lemnos. Medon was killed by Aeneas (Iliad II, 727; XV, 332). A herald on Ithaca, who was well-disposed towards Penelope and was therefor spared when all the suitors were killed.
