PENTHUS

Meaning of PENTHUS in English

[Greek] The personification of grief. When Zeus decided who would be the god of that, Penthus was absent. There was nothing left for him to preside over except the honors paid to the dead, mourning and tears. Penthus favors those who weep for the dead, and because they are so good at weeping he sends them the most grief he can. So the best way to avoid grief is to keep the amount of distress at a minimum.
