Meaning of PINCOYA in English

[Other] In Chilean myth, a beautiful siren who represents fertility. She dances on the beaches and, depending of the direction of her gaze, indicates good or bad fishing. She wanders through the sea, rivers and lakes. She is usually in the company of her husband, the Pincoy. Her mission is to fecundate the fishes and shellfishes; on her depends the plenty or the shortage of those products. When the Pincoya dances in the morning and looks at the ocean, it is a sign of good fishing. In others cases it is better not to go out to fishing. To win the favor of this nymph, the fishermen must behave always happy; neither they have to abuse of the products that she brings.
