Meaning of POLYNICES in English

[Greek heroic] The son of Oedipus and Jocasta, brother of Eteocles. When their father gave up the crown, the brothers agreed to rule Thebes for one year in turn. Eteocles did not keep his part of the agreement and refused to give up his rulership of Thebes. Polynices marched with six allies to the city (Seven Against Thebes) . Each brother died by the other's hand.
