PROTESILAUS

[Greek heroic] The son of Iphicles of Thessaly. He was the first Greek hero who died in the Trojan War. An oracle had prophesied that the first person of the Greek fleet to jump on land was also the first to die. His wife Laodamia (2) followed him into death. (Ovid XII, 68)
