SEIDES

Meaning of SEIDES in English

[Other] Seides were stones used as oracles and decorated in greenery. The Lapps venerated them. People would ask a Seide a question. After a question was asked, the stone would try and be lifted by the person who asked the question. The answer would be negative if the stone grew so heavy it was unable to be lifted. If a large Seide was asked a question, the questioner had to guess the right answer or their hands would be stuck to the stone forever. Seides were known to have once been human beings, but they were turned to stone. Sometimes they could turn to human beings, but they eventually had to turn back to stones.
