SVANTETIT

[Other] A Slavic war and vegetation god who was worshipped on the island of Rugen. He was the chief of the islanders and protector of their fields. Each spring, a harvest festival was held in his honor. Svantevit possessed several major temples, each with a guard of more than a hundred men. He was represented with four heads but also with four bodies. His attributes were a sword, a bridle, a saddle, and an oracular white horse. He is also known as Svetovit.
