Triangular deposit of sand, or other current drift, spaced along a shore. Size and configuration is apparently controlled by the magnitude and direction of wave action or current forces. Cusps are transient under some conditions, formed by storm waves and erased by a succeeding storm, but under other conditions are fairly long and relatively permanent features.
