HOMOGENEITY

Characteristic of a medium in which material properties are identical throughout. A material is homogeneous if its hydrologic properties are everywhere identical. Although no known aquifer is homogeneous in detail, models based on the assumption of homogeneity have proven to be valuable tools for predicting the approximate relationship in aquifers between discharge and potential.
