(Water Quality) Similar to Reverse Osmosis, the microfiltration process utilizes filtering membranes with larger-sized pores to remove suspended particles from water. This water filtration technique provides an economical and practical treatment process for smaller-sized water systems. Unlike other treatment processes, microfiltration relies on mechanical retention instead of chemical treatment and so long as the pore size of the membranes is smaller than the contaminant to be filtered, the constituent will not pass through.
