RETENTION/RETENTION

A process that halts the downstream progress of storm water runoff. This is typically accomplished using total containment involving the creation of storage areas that use infiltration devices, such as dry wells, to dispose of stored storm water via percolation over a specified period of time. (As oapposed to a more common Detention Pond)
