SEQUESTRATION

(SEE-kwes-TRAY-shun). A chemical completing (forming or joining together) of metallic cations (such as iron) with certain inorganic compounds, such as phosphate. Sequestration prevents the precipitation of the metals (iron). Also see chelation.
