(Wastewater Treatment) A white crystalline salt, NaHCO2, less soluble than Sodium Carbonate and having only a slight alkaline taste. Used as a Coagulant Aid in the neutralization process of wastewater treatment plants, it promotes more rapid settling, increases the efficiency of the coagulation process and extends the pH range to a level at which Alum (aluminum sulfate), a common inorganic coagulant, is effective.
