Methods for the removal of unwanted dissolved gases from water. Stripping techniques involve increasing the surface area of the water to be stripped and maintaining the atmospheric partial pressure of the gas(es) to be removed at a low level relative to the partial pressure of the gas dissolved in the water. Oxygen, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, volatile organic compounds, and carbon dioxide are commonly stripped from water. Also referred to as Air Stripping.
